My name`s Jamie and I`m in love with drumming. I specialise in hard, heavy and occasionally very fast playing and have considerable experience working in professional studios and plenty of gigs under my belt. Before I got into the metal and rock scene I played jazz for two years in a band that toured the Isle of Wight. While I`m best at what I love I`m also happy to teach a range of genres and styles and more than happy to teach any song or beat you might want to learn.
For two years I played for Novacaine Nothing who you can hear online, and then for a year in proxxy - a technical-metal band (lots of time signature changes and weird syncopation). I currently play full-time for the rock band Night Thieves and part-time for Immortal Machinery.
I have a large acoustic drum kit near Ashford in Kent though I`m fine with travelling within 10 miles for a £5 fee, and I have a portable electronic kit for lessons at your home if you don`t have a kit.

Experience: I currently have a long-term student taught from scratch who attends weekly lessons and is playing in a band. Please see my feedback as evidence. I previously had another student while I was at University. He was very happy with the lessons and even offered to pay me more than I had originally asked. (I also have experience childminding, supervising and teaching young children.)Contact this Tutor
My approach is personal and practical. What do YOU want to learn? What is it that YOU are looking to improve?
For example, if you want to improve your speed, we can discuss the theory or theories behind it, and apply it to the kit straight away. We can delve into various exercises to help improve speed while at the same time understanding why the principles work the way they do.
Or say you want to lean more about vocal recording and mixing. We would record some vocals and go through the entire process, all the while learning about the theory that underpins all the work we do.
My main focus and goal is simply to show you and provide you with as much knowledge as I can in any given area that you specifically want to learn about, while pointing you in the right direction to explore and discover more for yourself. I encourage self-discovery first and foremost, encouraging everyone to take the knowledge and instruction and apply them to their own experience and understanding of how to do something or how it works (or doesn`t!). This, I really feel, facilitates proper learning and understanding.
