Information about Rebecca
Experienced supportive maths tutor, boosting confidence, strong skills and exam grades.
I specialise in supporting students to improve understanding, skills and problem solving. My lessons are designed to help students make significant progress in a short time, focusing on skills and topics that have maximum impact.
My lessons boost confidence and the student`s belief in their own ability. Progress and improved exam grades will then naturally follow.
I currently tutor maths both online and in person to Year 2 - Year 11 students, and also post 16 year olds retaking their GCSE maths and Functional skills.
At GCSE level, I tutor AQA, OCR, Edexcel and Edexcel IGCSE exam boards, with emphasis on filling knowledge gaps, exam preparation, exam technique and enhanced grades. I can help with study skills, revision techniques, planning and organisation.
I love teaching maths and the skills that help build confidence. When a student feels relaxed and confident in their ability, their progress soars. Whether it`s working towards SATs, feeling confident and keeping up in school maths lessons, or aiming for Functional Skills, GCSEs and A Levels, progress and success is an amazing feeling for both the student and the teacher.

Experience: I first started tutoring 20 years ago whilst studying for a PhD in Mathematical Modelling and Biophysics. My early classes were for maths and physics undergraduates, and A Level students working towards university entry.
I took a placement abroad teaching maths to both primary and secondary pupils and discovered I enjoyed the challenge of those age ranges and the impact and progress that can be made when students understand the real basics and fundamentals of Maths.
Having gained subject teaching qualifications in maths and numeracy, I continue to tutor the full school age and ability range, plus working with post-16 year olds retaking their GCSE Maths or Functional Skills. I also volunteer with a charity that works with schools supporting both primary and secondary pupils who have fallen behind after the pandemic.
I have supported my own two children through their maths journeys. Both have chosen to study Maths A Level, with the eldest recently starting a mathematical course at university. I believe that with the right support, every child is able to reach their maths potential.

Rebecca was an amazing maths tutor for my nephew. He was struggling with maths, lacked confidence, and was preparing to re-take his GCSE when he started lessons with her. She made him feel comfortable, supported, and capable, completely changing his attitude towards the subject. For the first time, he was coming out of lessons excited about what he had learned and actually looking forward to the next one. Rebecca not only helped improve his maths skills but also built his confidence and self-belief. We couldnt recommend her highly enough.
