Information about Jack

I am a qualified secondary school teacher currently pursuing a PhD in pronunciation in second language acquisition in Cardiff. I was previously a Welsh for adults tutor at an adult education centre in central London and have tutored privately online and in-person for the last 3 years.

I am a patient tutor and am committed to ensuring individual educational needs are met in order to foster linguistic progress and attainment. I believe everyone can make progress in second language learner- whatever their previous linguistic experience.

Qualifications:

- PGCE (Qualified Teacher Status), University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
- MA Welsh and Celtic Studies, Cardiff University
- BA Linguistics, University of Cambridge, Girton College.

Availability: Weekends from mid/end March onwards. Available for online tutoring weekday evenings.

Willing to travel: 12 miles

Experience: I previously worked as a Part-Time Welsh for Adults Tutor at an adult education college, London. I teach classes as Mynediad (absolute beginner), Sylfaen (one year of learning) and Uwch (3 or 4 years of Welsh learning).

I offer tuition to people with a general interest in the Welsh Language as well as people seeking to learn for specific purposes, e.g. recruitment/interview language tests or public speeches. The focus of sessions can be entirely down to learners, e.g. pronunciation, reading, formal writing, conversational speech.

Tutees will have access to online resources created by me. Work to be completed outside of sessions can be given should learner wish.

Prior to beginning teaching adults, I trained in Wales as a Welsh Language teacher on a Government funded scheme working at a large bilingual comprehensive school in Carmarthenshire before working in Radnorshire.
