I am recent MSt in Global and Imperial History graduate from The University of Oxford. I achieved First Class Honours in my History Undergraduate at King`s College London. I am currently on the Civil Service Fast Stream. Previously, I was an Analyst for Global Risk Insights, publishing on current affairs. I also worked and wrote for TalkPolitics, Filibuster Uk, and the European Centre for Energy and Resource Security.

I focus my tutoring on the fundamentals of history at school, `essay technique`. Facts and knowledge of events are building blocks of history, how one constructs and intertwines these aspects is key. I shall focus on boiling down history to highlight the core aspects in essays and analysis to create a solid understanding for a student. This will provide them with a true, structural understanding of the subject that will transcend each module of their history course. Thus, I hope they will be able to continue to perform to their full potential even when the module/subject/time period of their studies changes.

Whilst focusing on technique I have covered extensive historical periods to support tutees. My primary areas are Prussia/Germany from 1806-1945 (particularly 1914-1945), the British Empire 1700-1960, the changing nature of warfare from 1789-1945, the Middle East from 1800-present, Strategy and Diplomacy in the Pacific from 1899-present, Africa from 1900-present. At a broader level I have done courses covering Europe from 1789-1991, and Britain from 400-1500.

Below I have written briefly on tutoring and me.

Tutoring provides the opportunity for me to help someone with their personal development and discuss and gain fresh perspectives on a subject I love. I have taught from ages 12-18, often with students improving from medium to top grades, and all ages have been a rewarding experience.

Encouraging the best in people has long been something that I enjoy. Whether that be ironing out the ins and outs of history to a friend to help them reach their full intellectual potential or discussing future career ideas with someone to help them reach more clarity. Citizenship was one of the four central pillars of my school education, it has rubbed off on me, and I try to keep giving something back since I left.

Any academic discussion, regardless of experience, can be enriching. New perspectives should always be welcome to challenge existing thoughts and I believe in this regard tutoring is a two way road. I look forward to not only imparting new perspectives to a tutee, but also learning of new takes on subjects I know, as I believe this will make for a much more collaborative and progressive process of learning for both.

Anyway, that is the more formal part out of the way and now I shall write a bit about me and what I hope for. I am an extremely sociable person, always out and about, traveling and seeing people. I have also had the good fortune of good tutors previously during my school years. I thoroughly enjoyed having a more relaxed but educative relation with my tutors. Learning was easier, it felt more like immersing myself in the subject than being taught and I hope to emulate this with my tutoring to make it as effortless and educative as possible!

I am keen to engage students of any age, and will adapt my tutoring to the needs and wishes of each! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
