After completing my B.Sc. Hons in Molecular biology at Coventry University I went on to study PGCE (specialising in A level Biology) at Warwick University. I have been teaching science in various state schools in the West Midlands for the past seventeen years with a variety of young people of different abilities and backgrounds. I have an outstanding teaching and track record of successful student outcomes and progress at GCSE as well as A level. As a qualified teacher I am aware of all the specification requirements and different pedagogical approaches to ensure progress. I have access to hundreds of resources, past exam papers and teaching materials to deliver a more effective teaching and learning experience.

Availability: I am available to teach during the week in the evenings and any suitable time can be negotiated over the weekend. I prefer that my pupils inform me in advance about the areas they require help in so that I can produce a bespoke learning plan, so I can address those issues that require help and look at consolidating the basics. Being a mainstream teacher, I have access to a wide range of assessment resources including exam board materials and therefore regularly devise practice exam papers and focus on exam technique, which is often a barrier for students, especially with the new science GCSE now in place. I also allow time in sessions for regular progress checks to allow parents to see how their child is performing and encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning. I also offer extensive advice on revision time tables, smart and effective revision out of sessions and the common exam mistake students make.

Experience: My teaching challenges and supports not only the most able pupils but students with all levels of ability and supports them to higher levels of attainment. I aim to provide bespoke resources by differentiating learning materials to match individual students’ needs. I believe that the ability to develop enquiry skills and the capability to develop structured logic and thought are essential to everyday life. Such skills and inspiration are important in raising attainment in all the key stages
It is my paramount goal to offer quality and outstanding science tuition to my tutees. I am passionate about my subject and I hope to inspire young people with the same enthusiasm and love of science, as well as, helping them to gain a competitive GCSE/A level qualification.
