Motivated Secondary English teacher with a proven track record of stretching high-ability students and leading more reluctant students `over the line` to that vital level 4/5 at GCSE. I have a deep passion for literature, reflected through an excellent personal academic record, and a broad knowledge of how to engage students in a range of texts in ways pertinent to their ability and interest. I also have a comprehensive understanding of GCSE Language mark schemes and have enjoyed many successes in ‘gamifying’ the exam process to drive motivation and results. With Key Stage 3, I have experience in teaching fundamental-to-advanced grammar, the structures of extended writing and critical thinking.

Availability: I am currently on a year out from teaching and I own a car. Therefore I am available at most times with the exception of Sundays.

Experience: After graduating in 2017 with a 1st Class Hons in English literature I trained with Teach First. In 2018 I completed my PGCE and gained the QTS grade ‘Outstanding’. In 2019 I gained my PGDE, focussing on barriers to reading comprehension, with a Distinction. In that year I also gained leadership responsibilities over the Homework curriculum at KS3 and ran my school’s ‘Gifted and Talented’ programme. In the most recent academic year I navigated a year 11 class through learning during the pandemic with 25% of that class exceeding their target by a whole grade.
