Information about James
Initially, I will talk to the student about the current problems that they are experiencing. I will also assess the students initial ability and understanding to allow myself to form my own opinion of the students ability. This will help me to gauge and plan future lessons. I will try to solve any current issues the student has on the spot, as I find this tends to result in a greater interest and participation form the student.
I feel it is important to provide the student with new or current material, to ensure that the student`s level of understanding continues to progress week on week. The lessons will have a structured approach, to ensure the student learns all the key aspects of the course. Additionally some students will choose to shy away from topics that they feel less confident on. The tutor therefore needs to make certain that these topics are frequently visited. It is likely I that shall set work for the student to complete in his or her own time.
Personality wise, I am calm, friendly individual and a good listener. I have very high levels of patience and energy, which I feel is essential for tutoring. I will always be happy to repeat the same concept lots of times in multiple different ways.
