Hi, I’m Charlotte. I’m currently doing a BA in Arabic and International Relations in London.

I’m bilingual in French and English, brought up in a multicultural environment.

I love teaching and take great care in sourcing appropriate and engaging material. I have a proven track record of coaching students through school entrance exams for international schools in Paris. I can teach either children or adults.

In 2019, I taught English to Arabic-speakers at the British Council in Egypt.

For my high-school leaving exam, I passed the Option Internationale au Baccaluréat (OIB). Half of the subjects were examined in French and half in English.

I also took a GCSE in English literature and got an A*.

I am passionate about languages and have always taken advantage of learning opportunities. I studied both German and Spanish at school.

Experience: Current:

-French teacher to an adult with an A2/B1 level. Focusing on speaking and listening skills.

-French teacher to an adult- complete beginner. Focusing on speaking and listening skills.

-French language tutor to an 8 and an 11 year old. One of the parents is French so the children read and speak fluently. Together, we work on written French: learning or reviewing grammar points and spelling then putting them into practice with exercises.

-Coaching a student in Year 10, at the French School in London. I ensure her homework is completed up to standard and on time. I prepare additional English language material.

2018-2019:

-English teacher and the British Council in Egypt. Prepared and delivered lessons - both General English and Conversation Classes - to Arabic-speaking adults, using a communicative approach. I taught all levels from complete beginners to upper-Intermediate students.

2018:

-French language tutor to a ten year old. I prepare my own material, focusing particularly on oral comprehension and practising level-appropriate dialogues. The lessons are meant to complement what is acquired in class and encourage the student use the language outside of an academic context.

English language Tutor [September 2013 – June 2014]

Privately coached candidates for the SIS entrance exams, for entry into Year 6 and Year 10 respectively. 100% success rate, including one student who had previously failed.

-For the Year 6 candidate, tasks included: reading out loud, written comprehension, grammar exercises and vocabulary work. We worked together to improve his confidence when speaking in English, particularly when giving presentations in class.

-For the year 10 candidate, tasks included: reading out loud from either articles centred on current affairs or extracts from novels, followed up by a discussion. I set a written assignment every week, which we would correct together, reviewing grammar points as necessary.

-Tutor for a girl in Year 8. Help with English homework ranging from grammar and vocabulary exercises to discovering Shakespeare. I made the texts as accessible as possible and encouraged her to make reading a hobby.
