I currently teach English as a foreign language to international secondary school students overseas and I previously taught English Language and Literature at a secondary school in West Sussex, at Key Stages 3 and 4 for five years. I have twenty years` experience working in the education sector altogether, and have particular experience working with Special Educational Needs students. I am also well versed in the GCSE UK curriculum and have many years of experience coaching students as a personal tutor, for these exams. Prior to my teaching career I worked in customer service, sales and hospitality, in the UK and travelled extensively overseas. I was also a homestay host for international students for many years. All of these experiences have enriched my life and honed my teaching skills. I’ve also raised two children of my own, both of whom are University educated and now with successful careers. I deliver learning which is both professional and nurturing, creating an environment in which the student can build confidence and develop a passion for the subject. In my free time my hobbies include reading, traveling and gardening.

Availability: I am available weekends between 3 and 9pm term times.
School holidays I am available weekdays and weekends after 3pm.

Experience: As well as having first hand teaching experience of individual students in class sizes of 30 plus, other responsibilities include behaviour management and implementation of strategies; lesson, assessment and resource planning; recording and monitoring student performance, responding to and implementing safeguarding procedures; attending and completing professional training sessions; liaising with parents/carers and attending parent evenings; and, liaising with professional bodies and services on behalf of my students. I have a calm and consistent attitude to teaching and behaviour management and pride myself on creating a supportive and nurturing environment to enable students to feel empowered and confident of their abilities. I believe I have a creative approach to teaching, differentiating resources to engage students of all abilities and for individual students, providing a tailor-made package of education to meet their needs. I make it a priority to get to know my students and I have a real passion for education which I believe comes across in my teaching.
