My name is Sarah and I am a student studying Biochemistry at Imperial College London . I want to teach students GCSE Mathematics because I believe that building a good foundation in Maths at this stage will help the student be one step ahead in Maths in future years. I will help them build good habits when attempting a Maths question so there is no question that they don`t feel confident answering. I want to create an environment where the student isn`t afraid to ask questions if they don`t understand something and can trust that with practice, they will get better at Maths.

Availability: I am available to tutor Mondays-Fridays, between 12pm and 8pm.

Experience: I have a solid understanding of maths because I achieved a grade 9 in GCSE Maths. I often help my little sister with her homework by breaking down difficult problems into simpler steps. Doing this has made it easier for her to answer Maths problems because she gains more understanding of the question. I’ve learned to explain things in different ways as different people have different ways of understanding Maths problems. Sometimes that may involve giving an example of how to answer a similar question with different numbers, writing down the information that is given to you and what you are trying to work out, or drawing diagrams for those who are visual learners. Tutoring her has led to an improvement in my patience, communication, and problem-solving skills. I also have experience with being a babysitter which has helped me develop the appropriate skills for becoming a tutor: I gained good time management skills as I had to ensure the children went to bed on time, schedule meal times and did their homework. I would use these time management skills to effectively plan lessons for the student so they get the most of each hour I spend tutoring them.
