Information about Steve
With over 20 years experience in chemical research and development with the Pharmaceutical industry, i have a breath of experience that allows me to inspire students through real world examples to create context across the science curriculum. Following a number of years preparing and delivering presentations at the Royal Society of Chemistry, and gaining a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status in 2022, I specialise in an approach that is suited to students who struggle with confidence and require an empathetic, approachable and bespoke structure to the support provided.
Availability: Most of my tutoring availability centres around evenings and weekends. Should there be a requirement for A-level or home school tutoring, there may would some flexibility in supporting daytime sessions.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have spent my entire career since graduating in Pharmaceutical Science within the Pharmaceutical Industry.
My background lies firmly in the research and development sector, and my specialism is in Analytical Chemistry. Latterly I was responsible for managing and leading a team of scientists in the development and validation of new analytical methods to support pharmaceutical product development and assist in securing the necessary data for submission of New Drug Applications.
I also have vast experience working with and mentoring young recruits into the company. This involved working with people of very different backgrounds and ability, providing technical support as well as being a pastoral mentor for their early years.
I was also responsible for a large amount of input into marketing material, including writing a number of scientific white papers as a subject matter expert and acting as a consultant for our customers.
In my extensive experience I have not only been part of a large number of strategic teams, but have also led a large number of very complex projects and through this developed the ability to communicate complex information to individuals at all levels in a manner that is appropriate for their experience. This took a new direction in the past few years whereby I have been working as a tutor for the external training team, compiling presentations and resources to deliver high quality pharmaceutical training to groups of delegates. i was also invited by the Royal Society of Chemistry to present/speak on a number of areas of expertise, and sit on various panel discussions to influence industry perspectives and challenge current ways of thinking.
