A vastly experienced Politics graduate from Exeter University .
I graduated from Exeter University with a 2:1 in Politics and spent a number of years working in the Civil Service and in Parliament as a researcher and speech writer, and thus have both academic and professional experience within the subject areas.
I achieved high grades in A-level Politics, History and Ancient History and believe I have the skills to bring the subjects to life in a way that engages and inspires students to want to learn more.
I have tutored students in the area for the last three years and have averaged a two grade jump from mocks to final exams.
Availability: Weekday evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 30 miles
Experience: Over three years of tutoring in the Harrogate, York and Ripon areas. The average grade uplift my students gain from mocks to actual exams is 2 grades.

Alistair was great, my daughter found him really easy to communicate with and felt supported. He approached the subject in a manner to which my daughter responded well to. The sessions were discussion based so she didn’t feel she was sat in front of a teacher but instead chatting to someone who knew the subject inside out.

Early days for us, but so far Alistair has been brilliant: energetic and enthusiastic, and seems highly motivated about teaching. Within a couple of sessions of seeing Alistair for help with his GCSE work, my son has gone from having little idea of what he good enjoy doing for A level, to thinking he might actually enjoy history. Alistair comes well prepared with notes, and really helpful for providing a context and an overview. Very much appreciated, thank you.

Good teacher. Has helped my daughter become a lot more comfortable with the subject - making things easier for her to understand and making sure she understands what he’s teaching constantly. I would definitely recommend.
