Information about Katie
I am a motivated and passionate teacher and this resulted in me achieving joint second in the Royal Society of Biology `Biology Teacher of the Year Award` 2017.
At my current school I have increased the percentage of students` achieving an A* at both GCSE and A level in Biology. In the 2018 exams, 82% of students I taught at school achieved a grade 9 in their GCSE Biology. At A-level, 53% of the students I taught at school achieved an A/A* and 84% achieved a A*-B grade.
I have exam questions, educational videos and a website to help students with exam technique, applying their knowledge and understanding the theory. I have experience in helping students one-to-one at school to boost their confidence, skills and knowledge to help them succeed and I enjoy doing it.
Will tutor AQA exam board only.
Availability: I am currently not tutoring.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have been teaching Biology up to A Level since 2010. I have worked at a mixed comprehensive school in Sheffield, a north London mixed academy and currently a girl`s grammar school. I completed my teacher training in 2010 and since then I have achieved a merit in my MA in Education and I have completed an education research project with the University of Cambridge via CamStar. I am Head of Science and Study Skills Coordinator at my school. I am an experienced sixth form tutor and therefore I have a good understanding about the high demand on students to achieve their grades for university and the UCAS application process.
