Information about Huw
I have 31 years` experience teaching Religious Studies in both the state and independent sectors. Until August 2020, I taught Religion and Philosophy at Berkhamsted School in one of the strongest departments in the country (8 specialists). I am now semi-retired and focusing on private tuition. My exam results at GCSE, IGCSE and A level were consistently excellent. I have been an Assistant Examiner for OCR Religious Ethics. I have also taught English Language and Literature to GCSE and History to Year 9. I am an experienced EPQ supervisor and, having been a Sixth Form Housemaster for 10 years, I have extensive experience in handling UCAS applications and preparing personal statements.
Availability: Tuesday and Friday all day but not evenings. Monday and Thursday all day including evening. Saturday morning and afternoon. Sunday afternoon.

Huw has been Suzy’s teacher since sept this year. From the first lesson, suzy found him approachable, encouraging and accommodating of her specific educational needs. He has been carefully assessing her gaps in learning from year 10, explaining thoroughly and providing learning material for the lesson ahead. Huw follows the exam board spec and I feel very confident that he will guide suzy through to a good pass, from grade 1 last year,

My lessons with Huw were extremely productive as he took the time to guide me through topics of my choice with his use of extensive resources that he would also share with me. Working with Huw increased my confidence heading into exams as my preparation for A-Levels was helped largely by Huw’s availability as well as his use of revision methods such as essay plans, guiding questions and discussion.
