Introduction:
Based on my experience of tutoring, the quality I believe to be most important in a tutor is the ability to adapt to different students` learning styles. Some students prefer the material to be motivated and built up from first principles, while others prefer clear methods and routines to apply. The mathematical ability I have developed during my degree at Cambridge allows me to stretch talented students, helping them to gain the solid understanding required for university entrance exams such as STEP. Having scored full marks in my own Mathematics A Level, I am also very aware of the need for good exam technique this is very useful in helping students revise. I also have experience teaching entire AS-Level modules to students not studying in school, so can assist in planning a course of action in these circumstances. Regardless of the student`s objectives, the main ingredient in learning mathematics is practice, and I am keen to encourage students to think through problems themselves during tutoring sessions. Previous clients have described my tutoring as very patient, saying that I have helped to improve my tutees` self-confidence. Another client commented that my lessons were always very well-prepared, with clear objectives and work to continue with afterwards.
