Information about Stuart
I`m 59, married with three children and living in Habberley, near Shrewsbury
I aim to ensure that students understand the underlying principles of what they do in maths and I have lots of experience of finding different ways to explain concepts and address misconceptions to accelerate progress.
Availability: 3.30 pm to 8 pm, Monday to Thursday, plus Sundays, 9 am to 7.30 pm - online.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I am an experienced secondary school maths teacher (33 years / previously head of maths) and secondary school headteacher. I have lots of current experience of tutoring A level, GCSE, IGCSE, L2 Further Maths, KS3, grammar school and independent school entrance exams and primary maths (all with very good success). I can also support preparation towards US university SAT exams (Maths section).
I helped my daughter, Megan, to pass her 11+ and get an A* in GCSE Maths ((in year 9) and my son, Cameron, to get Grade 9 in the new GCSE and A* at A Level. My younger son, Roan, was home schooled (he’s a tennis player) and achieved A* in GCSE Further Maths.

We have only recently started some summer online lessons with Stuart, which are proving to be beneficial to my 15-year-old son, who loves Maths, increasing his confidence in asking questions around complex maths problems. My son really looks forward to his lessons with Stuart, who listens and explains concepts well, encouraging my son to try things out. We intend to continue with Maths lessons online through to GCSE exams, and I am confident that with Stuart`s help, my son will make big leaps in his understanding.

My son is sitting his GSCE maths in the summer and after just 3 sessions with Stuart is already so much more confident in his approach to areas previously he would struggle with. I feel Stuart has tailored his teaching to my son’s needs and takes in his stride different ways of explaining the more difficult topics should the first approach not hit the mark. My son and I would recommend Stuart to anybody seeking 1-2-1 help with their subjects. Thank you!

Stuart was a fantastic resource for our daughter, providing the kind of attention to detail and comforting reassurance that she needed to overcome some of the issues that were holding her back.
