Information about Maria
Hey! I`m Maria (but go by Marysia - pronounced marisha, I`m 20 and about to start my second year of studying Sociology at Sussex University.
Having done exams I know how stressful they can be and want to help and support anyone who might need some extra help in Sociology in particular, but also RS A-Level (ethics and philosophy). I want to be there not just as a tutor, but as a mentor to support and encourage and instil faith in pupils who are really worried about their exams.
I`m very easy-going and happy to adjust to the pace of the student depending on their needs and happy to be there on a regular basis (as far as my schedule allows) or just to contact with any particular topics they may be struggling with.
Due to current circumstances, I could only offer online sessions.

Outside experience:
I work closely with charity LIFEbeat which aims to empower young people through creativity. I have worked with young people with a variety of mental health issues to support them through the programme and chat any issues they may be facing. Through this work, I have also developed a toolkit of self-soothing and helpful strategies for those who may be more anxious.
In Summer 2018, I worked as a Team Assistant at NCS helping young people through the programme and coaching, mentoring and supporting them to develop self-awareness, confidence and find ways to improve wellbeing and interpersonal skills.
I spent several months in 2018 working at an SEN primary school.
Currently about to start my second year of uni studying Sociology at Sussex University.
Before the pandemic, during my first term of uni, I volunteered at my uni doing the Role Models Project (RMP). At RMP, we work in a group to come up with different workshops on topics affecting 13/14 year olds that schools may not teach students about, such as relationships, future options, mental health etc. During second term, I was asked to co-lead some of the training sessions for new volunteers.
