My love of science started at an early age when watching the Apollo 11 moon landings on my parents` black & white TV. I have always been keen to figure out how things work so physics was a natural choice when choosing my first degree course.

I believe that in learning any subject thoroughly there is no substitute for a sound knowledge of basic concepts and definitions. This can only come through regular practice and revision. In physics, this may mean refreshing (or learning) mathematical techniques, logical thinking and practising laying out your thoughts clearly in written sentences.

I am currently a learner myself (so have some sympathy for my tutees) as I attend Salsa dance classes, do regular ice hockey training (and recreational league games) and teach myself new programming languages (currently Python and App Inventor).

Availability: I am available most weekdays (daytime and evening) Monday to Thursday.

Experience: I am a physics specialist (Ph.D) and since 1985, have taught in the Royal Navy (as an Instructor Officer), independent and state schools. I have regularly taught all 3 sciences up to GCSE and Physics to A-Level. I served as head of physics in one school for 20 years. Over the years I have also taught ICT, GCSE Electronics, GCSE Astronomy and some A-Level Further Maths.
