Information about Silvia

I am a Spanish national, now living in London for 6 years. I love the UK, and I love the City of London. I am an extremely passionate advocate of language learning and I have a vocation for teaching.
Since we live in a world where international travel and communication are now so much easier than in previous times, mainly due to technological advancements, and reduction in the price of international travel costs, I believe that learning Modern Foreign Languages is a fantastic and valuable life skill to have. I also believe that this subject can be really rewarding for students in the long run and speaking second or third languages can be beneficial in securing a good job. Also, speaking English and Spanish could help students unlock the language barrier in many countries across the globe.

I transmit my passion for languages and my lessons are mainly based on learning in a fun way to engage and motivate students. There is nothing more rewarding than achieving your goals when your students start the lesson with a smile and also when the effort made ends up with good results. My experience taught me that every child has his or her own needs and abilities. In teaching and tutoring, it is important to be flexible and adapt the process for them, to give them the opportunity to learn and realise their full potential. Being resourceful and intuitive also helps me to tackle difficulties that can appear during an activity.
The key to get the students motivated in every educational process is how a tutor works and how the lesson is prepared. I believe that it is important to bear in mind the students’ needs and interests so I can motivate them even more.
I am a sociable, empathetic and open minded person. All my experiences have given me the confidence to engage, motivate and entertain student and have taught me how to understand and manage their feelings. Sharing my knowledge, listening and observing are good ways to create a stimulating environment to learn. Problem solving skills are necessary but so is the ability to express your thoughts and feelings to make people empathise with you.
To my mind, giving every student the support and the tools they need can contribute to outstanding progress in their learning. I believe that my organisational abilities, my optimism, and my passion for languages make me a great tutor.
I very much look forward to helping your child improve his/her language skills and therefore boost his/her grade in the GCSE or A-level.

Experience: Through my degree in English Studies, I have English history and literature knowledge which helped me to be a private tutor of English as a Foreign language in Spain for many years.
I have also worked as a volunteer in a South West London school, supporting the Spanish native speaker girls who were new to the United Kingdom and were struggling with the English language. My role was to translate and support them to understand the lessons and therefore, help them to make progress.
Currently, I am working in a secondary school in Wimbledon where I teach French to KS3 and Spanish from KS3 and KS5 and I am very confident with what is required for the new GCSE and A-level exams.
