Information about Melanie
I am a PhD candidate of Modern History at the University of Reading, with experience in studying foreign languages alongside my studies (Arabic and Italian). I am also a part-time sessional lecturer at the university, teaching modules with an emphasis on degree-level writing skills, and how to conduct historical research and communicate findings.
I would be happy to tutor a range of subjects but am primarily experience in English at Primary school level. I am also experienced working with students where English is foreign language.
Availability: Saturday mornings and early afternoon.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: - The academic year 16/17 I was employed as an academic TA for upper KS2 in a state primary school in Oxford, preparing students for their SATs (primarily for English and Maths).
- I have both formally and voluntarily worked with a range of students at various points of their education, from as early as year 5.
- I spent 8 weeks as an ETA in Thailand, working with students with little to no knowledge of the English language. I also worked with students at University level, both those formally studying English and those with personal aspirations to progress in foreign languages.
- I currently am a nanny for two children at an independent preparatory school in Reading. They are both about to take entrance exams for secondary schools.
