Information about Tabitha
I am an experienced secondary school science teacher who has worked in education for just over a decade.
I offer one to one, personalised tuition to support learning and progress in Key Stage 3, BTEC and new style GCSE Science across a range of exam boards. An initial contact will establish the students areas of strength & weakness, their exam board and current levels to produce a timetabled plan. This is to ensure my students feel more confident and prepared for their final assessments. It can be as personalised and flexible as you like, if a new area is identified by their class teacher as needing additional support. I am happy to liaise with the pupils class teacher to identify where they think a tutor could be helpful too. The key is to prepare them for new style terminal assessments so past papers will always be a key part of the session.
Availability: I am based in West End, Southampton near Haskins garden centre. I have a purpose built tutoring space away from household distractions where pupils can complete their tailored one hour sessions. Drop off and enjoy a coffee in Haskins or the White Swan Pub is also a short walking distance away . Or go for a relaxing walk into Riverside Park. I also have all basic equipment that a student would need, pens, paper, scientific calculator etc. But I do ask that students bring their own notebook and revision guide.
I am available most afternoon/evenings on weekdays. Please let me know what you require and I will do my best to accommodate that.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: My career in education began whilst completing my Psychology degree, alongside my studies I began working at the Saints Study Support Centre, supporting and engaging underachieving KS2 & KS3 students to improve standards in literacy, numeracy and ICT. I then went on to complete my Science graduate teacher training at Southampton University, finishing with an `Outstanding` grading. I went on to work at a Southampton City school where I have been for the past eight years. During this time I have worked across a number of exam boards, course styles and subjects as well as working my way up to management roles, such as; head of BTEC science and assistant leader of Science (with a focus on KS4).
My caring and enthusiastic nature led to a reputation of building effective relationships with students, parents and staff to ensure all pupils make progress. And my passion for science and understanding the world around has engaged a variety of learners with different levels and needs. Contact me now to start your learning journey.
