Information about Chris
Experienced Special Needs teacher, covering all key stages including Post-16. I ensure that the learning journey is real and relevant and tailored to the pupils needs, with individualised feedback forming a key part of the process. As a counselling practitioner and member of the BACP, I also ensure that the pastoral, therapeutic and holistic needs of your child are at the heart of everything we engage in. I specialise in breaking down language barriers, utilising Makaton signing and a range of speech and language tools to impart communication skills, as well as imbuing your child with a real sense of autonomy and independence so they will thrive in the educational setting long after the sessions have finished.
Further, I have extensive experience of working online, utilising a wide range of resources to help augment their learning focus.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have worked in special needs education for nine years. I have worked with EBD, MLD, PMLD and SLD pupils over that expanse of time, with a range of diagnosis`s and learning barriers. I am an experienced speech and language skills practitioner, working with PECS, communication books, communication devices, Makaton and signs and symbols to underpin the learning experience. I specialise in Post-16 education, with a focus on ASDAN and life-skill challenges that embed independence into the pupil. I was lead for Outdoor Curriculum and devised and implemented the curriculum across all key stages.
