Information about Arwen

I am a highly experienced grammar school teacher and tutor of physics. I have helped students to achieve the high grades at GCSE and ‘A’ Level required for entry to Oxford, Cambridge and Russell group universities.
I tutor from my own home in Upstreet (East of Canterbury) midway between the Thanet coast and the city of Canterbury. Tutoring from home allows me to access the many resources I have developed or acquired during the many years I have been teaching; I use these resources to ensure a high quality experience is provided for the student.

Availability: I am available during the day on most weekdays, at weekends and during the school holidays and can be flexible with arrangements if necessary. I will always try to accommodate students’ needs.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: I am a qualified physics teacher with fifteen years` experience teaching and tutoring within both the state and independent sector. In addition to the many and varied schools at which I have been employed, I have taught at grammar schools in Kent and an outstanding girls’ school in Westminster, London. I have a track record of successful exam results for my students. I am a physics graduate and have a PGCE.
I am currently teaching in an Ofsted rated ‘outstanding’ grammar school. I have led a physics department in a girls’ grammar school and been responsible for the implementation of physics at ‘AS’ and ‘A’ Level following changes to the curriculum and specifications.
My aim is to make physics accessible and enjoyable, to identify the needs of the student and tailor teaching and learning to their specific requirements, build and reinforce their confidence with an emphasis on examination preparation so that students are able to realise their full potential and achieve excellent results. I always aim to make tutoring an enjoyable, confidence-boosting experience for all of my students.

In the past I have facilitated the learning of students so that they are able to achieve the high grades at GCSE and ‘A’ Level necessary for university courses at Oxford, Cambridge and the Russell Group universities. I have inspired (female) students to study astronautical engineering and motorsports engineering, amongst other disciplines.

Former students include ‘A’ Level students wishing to pursue careers in veterinary science, medicine, physics, engineering and maths who need to achieve top grades in physics and those applying for university courses at Russell Group universities,
