Information about Max
I am an Oxford University graduate with a first-class honours degree in Physics and six years experience teaching Maths and Physics. I find tutoring incredibly rewarding and always enjoy watching tutees surpass expectations they had of themselves at the start of the sessions.
I have recent experience of sitting exams and succeeding in them so have a good knowledge of exactly what is required. A focus of mine is to give students a proper understanding of the material in the exam and I will always have several approaches to explaining a concept. Knowing all the material will undoubtedly see a student succeed, but I also have an excellent knowledge of tips and tricks specific to maths and physics papers to pick up the final marks so the student achieves what they are capable of. I can also give relevant and up to date advice on exam technique so the student can make the most of their ability on the day.
I also have experience of working with students who are often worried or embarrassed about not understanding something. This is common, so I endeavour to make students feel comfortable asking questions about concepts that they feel are simple or that they `ought` to know already.

Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: With over 3 years experience of teaching A-level maths and physics, I am well equipped to deliver high quality tuition. I have made particular progress with students in helping them to fully understand the more challenging areas of the course and pick up the tricks applicable to the exam.
I have taken a 14 day course teaching physics in schools run by the University of Oxford, which included time working with students in a secondary school. This has given me a great insight into teaching methods and understanding the challenges students face in school-based learning.
During my time at Oxford as well as RGS Guildford, I have taken on several tutees and have been successful in converting C-D grade students into A-grade students at GCSE-level maths. I have considerable experience with teaching maths for common entrance and I have also taught children as young as 8, getting them to enjoy the subject as well as understanding new ideas.

Max was easy to communicate with and worked well with my son. I am glad we found him, it is just a shame he isn`t around for longer

Max is a great help to my child whose confidence in maths is low. He is professional, knowledgeable, helpful, clear, approachable and patient. Highly recommended.

Max tutored my daughter through Skype sessions as he was at university at the time. This worked really well for my daughter, he could share his screen and show the processes of working out questions, as she followed on her own screen. This made the sessions like a classroom/lecture set up and meant that she really understood what was going on. Her maths improved massively with his help and she left her secondary school with an A in Maths GCSE.
