Nick

My name is Nick, and I have been teaching for over 10 years. I originally started my teaching career as a PE teacher and during that time I found myself teaching a number of other subjects. When I was at school I never enjoyed classroom based subjects like maths and English and because of this my aim when I am teaching these subjects is to make the learning clear, understandable and positive. I find that making the learning relatable as well as demonstrating and working alongside a student really helps them to get to grips with what is being taught. I really enjoying showing a student how to do something they previously couldn’t and see them go on to use the skills they have learnt independently. The most important lesson that I aim to give those that I teach is that mistakes are all steps in the learning process and help us to get to the places we want to be.

Availability: I am available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings within Milton Keynes, although I may have some flexibility on other evenings during the week

Experience: I qualified in 2010 and have held a number of teaching roles and taught a wide range of subjects during this time. I initially qualified as a secondary trained PE teacher and started my first teaching role in a middle school teaching KS2 and KS3 pupils. Since 2016 I have taught in a primary school with my main subjects being maths and English for year 5 and 6 students working with these age groups to prepare them for their SATs tests at the end of year 6.
I am currently a member of the senior leadership team of my current school.
