Information about Helena
Helena began the horn, violin and piano at the age of nine and soon after gained a scholarship to study at the Purcell School of Music with Sue Dent, supported by the governments Music and Dance scheme. She then accepted her scholarship at the Royal College of Music in 2011. Helena graduated from the Royal College of Music in July 2015 with a First Class Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree, and went on to continue her studies at the RCM where she graduated in July 2017 with a distinction in Masters in Performance.
Helena is primarily an orchestral musician, performing with Orchestras such as the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and RTE National Symphony Orchestra. Helena was a member of the 2018 Southbank Sinfonia and is currently on trial for Principal Horn of the Scottish Ballet. She is also an active chamber musician and has given solo and chamber music recitals at the Royal Festival Hall, Kings Place, Wigmore Hall and St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Helena has taught 1-2-1 lessons privately for 8 years, as well as leading and organising classroom lessons and musical workshops in schools. She is a passionate, enthusiastic and fun teacher who has lead many students form beginner standard all the way up to grade 8 and above.
