I tutor privately because I enjoy it, especially the one to one element.
I am a published author, with 3 books in print on aspects of English assessment.

I like to spend some time finding out exactly where the tutee is in terms of their own knowledge before getting started on the actual teaching. I have a relaxed manner which I find puts people at their ease so that learning can be fun, which is always the best way.
I do believe in the importance of structure in written English English. I hope to impart my love of the subject to my students through building their confidence to communicate effectively and express themselves freely.

Experience: I have taught English in large inner city Secondaries. Later I became an advisory teacher then an adviser in Sheffield finally spending 7 years as an OFSTED inspector. My experience is very broad and covers all age ranges (including Adult which I taught in evening classes) and I am qualified to Masters high level.
