Information about Amanda
I am a patient, enthusiastic motivational tutor with 7 years experience of teaching and tutoring maths up to GCSE Higher level maths. I use my passion for maths and problem solving to help learners of all levels gain confidence, improve levels and get back on track.
I really enjoy helping the students understand and love maths by offering a different approach to problematic topics, going back to basics when there are gaps in their learning and creating a strong base on which to build. I explain how to approach worded questions in depth and cover exam technique and study skills.
I teach children from Key Stage 2, including SATS preparation and 11+ exams, helping with the transition from primary to secondary maths for years 7 & 8 and then GCSE maths for years 9 upwards.
Availability: In the current climate I am successfully doing lessons via Zoom. Happy to do 1-to-1 or small groups.
One hour lessons preferably at my home (when restrictions are lifted).
I have some spaces available Monday to Thursday after school but please call for specific slots.
I run revision sessions in school holidays for individuals and small groups.
I can do day time lessons for home schooled students or those not attending main stream schools.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: Following a successful career in the City I worked in a local senior school as a Numeracy specialist teaching small classes of learners with a variety of special educational needs as well as larger classes of mixed ability students. Alongside this I studied with the Open University and am enjoying the degree Mathematics and its Learning which I completed in June 2019.
