I am a mobile tutor living near Denton Burn. I am willing to travel anywhere within 15 minutes drive of my home. So please don`t take the distance I am willing to travel of 3 miles as absolute. It depends on whether there are fast routes to where you live or not.

Availability: Mon-Thurs, 11.30am-9pm inclusive (i,e. lesson must finish by 9pm.)

Experience: I have worked as a freelance maths tutor for 2 years now. I have also taught the subject in schools and at an FE college. I teach functional skills, GCSE, A Level and BTEC Levels 1-4. I believe calculators have their place but it very important that students fully develop their skills in mental & paper arithmetic, estimating, and basic algebra as these are a solid foundation for studying higher mathematics. This also gives students more confidence and understanding when facing exams. I use IT tools like spreadsheets and graphing software, where appropriate, so that topics are more visual and interactive. I have experience of teaching dyslexic students. I devise strategies to help them practice their number skills more efficiently and teach by breaking down mathematical processes into small parts that can be practiced individually first before bringing them all together.
