Information about Bethany
Hello and thank you for viewing my profile! My name is Bethany and I have a passion for Biology, Chemistry and passing on knowledge to younger generations. Having graduated in Biochemistry and Genetics BSc Hons from the University of Nottingham, I have completed my MSc in Biomedical Sciences alongside full time employment when I worked in NHS clinical research, having worked in cardiac surgery and infectious disease research groups. I am currently a first year medical student at the University of Nottingham, studying on the accelerated 4-year Graduate Entry Medicine course. I have always had a passion for learning, achieving grades A*AA for my A-levels of Biology, Chemistry and Psychology, respectively. I am able to offer GAMSAST Section II tutoring if this is something you would be interested in. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking in the great outdoors and trying new recipes.
Availability: I am available most days except for Tuesday (as this is my practical clinical skills day) and Wednesday afternoons, and I am free all day/evening on weekends.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: Ever since high school, I have been a mentor to younger pupils, volunteering as an academic mentor as part of my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
In my gap year, I was an Activity Instructor at PGL Travel Ltd., leading large groups of children in outdoor activities (zip wire, abseiling, archery). This gave me a solid understanding of how to engage with children and to help their overcome fears or when they find themselves in stressful situations.
At university, I was an active member of several student societies, helping younger students in tutor groups develop their learning style and when progressing to higher education and adapting to a new environment.
My ethos is to encourage students to enjoy their subject, as this aids understanding and memory when lessons dont feel like a chore.
