Information about Edward
I began my education in Suffolk at a prep school called OBH. I moved to a boarding school near Peterborough in Oundle after year 8. I have recently graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA in Economics and Management.
My approach to tutoring is to firstly gauge a students current level of understanding or knowledge of the subject. For subjects like Mathematics and the Sciences it is imperative to have a solid foundational understanding of the key concepts/ideas to then build upon. Before I move onto new material with a student I will always ensure they have understood what we have previously covered so as to not overwhelm them. Whenever possible I seek to add context to the material I am teaching to build a narrative with the student and to try to foster intellectual curiosity within them. It is very important to me to present whatever topic I may be teaching in an interesting and engaging manner to help my student remember as much as possible.
My interests outside of academia include fishing, running, weightlifting, travelling and reading.
Availability: I am available until January when I will be travelling to Central and South America until July. I am very flexible and can accommodate most times during the week and on the weekend. When I return I will hopefully be starting an MSc in Computer Science in London and so will begin tutoring again.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: At present I have only been tutoring for one month but have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the satisfaction that comes with seeing one of my students grasp a new concept. I am currently tutoring 11+, 13+ and GCSE students across London and over Skype.
