I have over 30 years experience working in the science field as a researcher, teacher and exam marker. I am passionate about my subject and enjoy passing on this enthusiasm and drive to the students I teach. I have 10 years experience marking the new A level specification for both biology and chemistry. I mark for a number off different exam boards and provide guidance and skills on exam techniques to my students in order to maximise the grades they achieve.
Another priority focus for me is based on the required practicals. I have excellent resources to cover these and focus on improving the students confidence …building their knowledge and understanding of these practicals so that they can apply these techniques when answering the application questions.
I have spent 25 years in academia, publishing my work (three recent papers published in 2017, 2018 and another in 2022). I have ongoing links with local universities and can offer advice and support to prepare students for university life. I can provide guidance with my students UCAS applications, covering letters, interview skills and CV writing.
Availability: I am available during the week days and in the evenings. I am also available at the weekend.

Experience: I am qualified to teach both biology and chemistry from GCSE to A level. I have 4 years experience working in a secondary school where I have taught pupils in the age range 11-19. I have worked with mixed ability classes, highly able pupils and SEN students.
I am also an associate lecturer at a local university and support the undergraduate students with science practicals and field studies.
I have been a private tutor for 13 years and have adapted well to the changes in the curriculum from each of the exam boards and have numerous resources to support my students. This year I am very proud of all my students who have once again excelled in their exams achieving above and beyond their target grades. A large number are continuing with my support for their A-levels. My AQA and OCR A level students( in both biology and chemistry) all achieved the required grades to enter their first choice university. All my GCSE students achieved grade 6 and above. I have extensive experience teaching the current OCR A and AQA specifications.

My daughter had only one lesson with this tutor. She was extremely good with communication and flexibility for arranging lessons. Unfortunately, her teaching style did not suit my daughter and my daughter felt she did not benefit much from the class. This might be because of my daughter’s learning style or the tutors teaching format. As a parent I have to find someone that suits my daughters needs, which is why I am discontinuing the lessons.

Susan has worked hard to accommodate any requests we have made so that particular strands of study can be revised. She sets appropriate work to be completed during the week. Mock exams were good and we are hoping that the knowledge will continue to grow in readiness for May.
