Information about Lara

Hi, I’m Lara, and I am an experienced and nurturing tutor for Key Stage 2 children!

I’m a final-year student at University College London, where I study Politics and International Relations with a focus on data analysis and coding. I first began tutoring maths while I was still in school and have since gained several years of experience teaching primary students, both one-to-one and in groups.

I know maths can sometimes feel challenging, so I make my lessons clear, encouraging and tailored to each child. My goal is to help students not only improve their results but also feel confident and even enjoy the process of problem-solving.

When I am not studying or teaching, I like to dance, read and stay active. They give me the energy and creativity I bring to all my lessons!

Availability: As a university student, I have a flexible schedule and can usually offer lessons on weekday afternoons, evenings and weekends. Since my timetable can vary, I arrange sessions directly with families to find times that work best for both of us.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have over seven years of tutoring experience, supporting children in Years 4-6 through both one-to-one and group lessons. My work has included:

- Preparing students for 11+ exams and SATs,

- Strengthening core skills and building confidence in maths fundamentals,

- Supporting high-achieving students to stretch further and tackle new challenges.

I achieved a 9 in GCSE Maths, an A in FSMQ (Free-Standing Maths Qualification), and an A in A-level Maths. At university, my BSc degree has involved extensive quantitative training, including statistical analysis and coding, which has further strengthened my mathematical and problem-solving skills.

I’m also highly experienced with online tutoring platforms, creating interactive and engaging lessons that adapt to each student’s learning style. Over the years, I’ve seen my students grow not just in their academic performance, but also in their confidence and enjoyment of maths.
