Information about James
As a professional teacher i am passionate and enthusiastic about providing engaging and challenging learning experiences. In my classroom i believe all students have the fundamental right to have access to a successful and fulfilling education in order to be productive and valuable members of society.
I am able to utilise past exam papers with my students to ensure they achieve the grades they are capable of and have a proven track record of raising my students attainment. Many of my students are on lower 2:2`s prior to commencing sessions with me and i have been able to raise their grades to upper 2:1 and first class degree standard.
I take on a holistic, flexible and differentiated pedagogical approach to teaching to allow for inclusivity within my classroom. I strongly believe there is no one size fits all approach to pedagogy and learning.
I am keen to support students as much as possible and help them build up their confidence, i specialise in cv writing and college/university applications and supporting students with interviews to help them plan for the future.
Availability: Evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I five years experience tutoring law to college and degree students.
I am passionate about helping students through their exams and the students I tutor have found my exam preparation methods particularly effective.
I utilise my sessions to lay out model exam answers for students that they then need to simply replicate on the day of their exam. I am also highly skilled at writing and proof reading assignments.
I have tutored law to college and university students both during and following my time at university. I achieved an upper 2:1 LLB Law with honours degree with evidence of first class work in criminal justice and criminology. I received a high achievement award for these subjects as i gained the highest grades out of around 80 students at level six.
I feel this was partly down to my experience shadowing a judge at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court and my time spent with local prominent law firms Beswicks and Stevens solicitors on a voluntary basis. I am also keen to assist my students finding similar work experience as it really made a difference to my career.
My specialisms in law are Criminal, Criminology, English Legal System, Contract, Tort Law, land and equity, company, family and EU Law.
