Hello! I’m Beth, a recent graduate from Oxford University, with a First Class Honours BA in Ancient and Modern History. I have experience tutoring English up to GCSE level, and am equipped with the knowledge to help students achieve the best grades possible. I have a huge passion for all things History and throughout my academic life have studied everything from Archaic Greece right up to 20th century topics such as the Cold War. I went to Tiffin Girls’ School in Kingston, achieving 12 A*s at GCSE, and A*AA at A2 (plus an A* in EPQ).
As well as tutoring History and English, I am able to offer help with the EPQ, and university applications including with writing personal statements, Oxbridge admissions tests (e.g. the HAT) and interview preparation.

Availability: I am very flexible with timings and am available most days of the week.

Experience: I am an enthusiastic, supportive and patient tutor, with a genuine passion for teaching. All students learn differently and so my sessions are flexible and tailored to the needs of each individual tutee. I am aware that the syllabuses and exam specifications are changing a lot at the moment, so I’ll ensure I’m well informed about the particular requirements of each exam board before starting the tutoring sessions. During the first lesson we can establish together the student’s aims and which areas of the course they find most challenging. From this discussion I will then devise a plan in order to tackle these issues, improve the student’s confidence in their own abilities, and help them achieve the highest grades possible. My areas of expertise include helping students with structuring and writing essays, going through past papers/model answers, and improving revision techniques. I am also more than happy to mark any essays or pieces of work you would like feedback on, and will set tasks for students to work on before the next lesson.
