Information about Amna
I am an experienced secondary school teacher, who has taught KS4 and KS5 for the previous 6 years. Prior to this I had acquired teaching experience across a range of subjects and age-groups. I have a MSc in Biomedical and Molecular Science Research (Kings College London), and thus have focused my teaching on the Science subjects. This was followed with a PGCE from UCL Institute of Education (IOE).
Prior to my classroom teaching I had been tutoring GCSE science students across a range of exam boards. This had included both group and individual teaching for students. I tailored my tuition to the requirements of each exam board, as well as ensuring that students grasped the fundamental concepts required. I found it highly rewarding to help students properly understand a topic and for them to extract skills and knowledge that would be helpful throughout their lives, rather than teaching students to simply pass exams. Having now had 5 years of teaching experience, where I have invested many hours (personal and professional) into ensuring each of my students leave with their target grades, I return to tutoring with a fresh passion.
My extensive voluntary and work-experience along with my academic and practical proficiency have provided me with the attributes and enthusiasm to thrive in a teaching setting, a profession which requires motivation, intelligence, professionalism and dedication to succeed in. Still a full time Chemistry Teacher, I now offer tuition outside of school hours, in the hopes of facilitating struggling students.
Availability: Weekdays after 6pm, and Weekends/School holidays flexible timings.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I am an extremely enthusiastic teacher, who believes that hard work, dedication and the development of the right skill set can allow any student to achieve the grades they require. I teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics in years 7 to 10. I am currently specialising in teaching Chemistry (Edexcel and AQA) to years 10 and 13, and in the previous academic year had a 100% A-C pass rate with my class students (with 46% achieving A-A*). I pride myself on stretching the able, and scaffolding learning for the less able.
I completed a BSc in Biochemistry, an MSc in Biomedical Molecular Science Research, and a PGCE in Science (Chemistry Specialism).
I have been tutoring for approximately 9 years, and teaching for 5. I have completed my NQT at an outstanding Secondary school, with a focus on the Sciences and have since been teaching key stages 3-5 (including GCSE, BTEC and A level).
