Information about Kate
I have been teaching Geography for 16 years. I am Head of Geography and run a successful department at a school in Exeter, I am also a Chartered Geographer and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. I have travelled extensively and have lots of real life experience to draw on in my teaching.
I am passionate about Geography and have worked with numerous students over the years to improve and sustain results.
Availability: I can be flexible. During the summer holidays I am available most days and evenings and by booking in advance on weekends.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I began my teaching career in Somerset where I worked in an `Outstanding` school for 8 years. I am now Head of Department at a very successful school in Exeter. Over the years I have been a Senior Examiner at GCSE for a large exam board. I have also moderated on the A Level NEA and examined on the Physical paper at A Level.
I have experience teaching a range of exam boards from Edexcel, WJEC, AQA and OCR. I teach both human and physical Geography across a range of topics and I am confident in the requirements of each specification.
When tutoring I try to understand the requirements of each student, and how they learn best.
I will provide feedback on work marked between sessions. I hope to build confidence in my tutees in the lead up to their examinations and try to build on their existing skills, aiming to foster a love of Geography.
I am also a moderator for one of the major exam boards for the EPQ and have lead this for the last 10 years.
