Information about Amy
I am a PhD student at The Blizard Institute of Cellular and Molecular Biology. My research looks at how diet during pregnancy can affect the genetics and epigenetics of the offspring (you are what your parents ate!). I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2015 with a BA and an MSci in Natural Sciences, specialising in Biochemistry.
I am available for GCSE and A-level Biology tutoring, as well as preparation for Oxbridge and Medicine applications and interviews.
Availability: Week days after 6pm
Weekends
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have demonstrated science to children from toddlers to teenagers for the Cambridge Hands on Science (CHaOS) team and taught at science festivals across the country. Having had the opportunity to do work experience in a lab aged 16, I have hosted A-level students in my lab to give them the vital practical experience that they need for their science and medicine degree applications. Teaching is a fundamental part of being a scientist and I am keen to share my love of biology with both those that want a career in science or medicine and need a challenge, as well as those who perhaps dont see the beauty of it just yet.
I have guided prospective Cambridge students through the application procedure, from personal statement to interview, with a thus far 100% success rate. I was also heavily involved in the Access Scheme at my Cambridge college.
