Information about Darren
I am an excellent communicator and can relate with learners effectively. I use a good mix of questioning, mentoring and knowledge sharing to enable learners to progress rapidly whilst becoming aware of their increasing abilities in Computing. I am a very patient and empathetic person who has a good sense of humour.
Availability: Weekday evenings, except Wednesdays. 5pm to 7pm. During day and evenings at weekend can also be a possibility.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have been teaching Computing (Computer Science) and ICT at KS3, GCSE and A Level for 15 years and have been head of ICT Computing for 9 years. Whilst teaching Computing, I have taught programming languages such as SQL, HTML, JAVAscri pt, PHP, Visual Basic, Python, Pascal and Delphi. When observed by Ofsted, by lessons have been classed as Outstanding. I have also been an ICT Advanced Skills Teacher for 4 years.

Darren is everything we were looking for in a tutor. He has good knowledge and excellent communication skills, managing to engage my focus-challenged ASD son throughout the entire lesson. He has a patient, calm and positive manner, therefore is enjoyable and easy to work with. Darren is also very punctual and makes sure my son has the full hour, sometimes going a little over if finishing up. From experience this is not always the case with tutors (in which case we`ve felt a bit cheated) so we feel very grateful to have someone so professional helping my son. Son gave Darren two thumbs up after his first session and continues to be impressed, as do I. The only problem I have is that by sharing this feedback, we may have to share Darren with other students when we`d rather keep him all to ourselves!

Darren has been an excellent GCSE ICT tutor for my son who is in year 11 and being home educated due to SEN. The sessions are both relaxed, informative and organised which my son finds very helpful. Darren has been 100% reliable and professional. In addition, his friendly approach and his flexibility to suit my so`s needs, including doing face to face or online sessions as needed, has been very much appreciated.

Early days but my son has enjoyed his first 2 sessions with Darren and covered a lot of ground. Darren is approachable and flexible. Very happy so far.
