Information about Eliza
I am first-class Biochemistry student at the University of bath with a passion for science and education: I have been tutoring students throughout my life in school and University as an academic scholar, and I love the satisfaction of learning. Helping people is a massive passion of mine which I pursued by opening a tutoring club at Box Hill School and supported younger students in academics as house captain in Reigate Grammar. I have always been a consistent high achiever across the board, attributed to my love for learning and subject passion. I truly believe commitment is key to success and that anything can be achieved through perseverance.
I believe balance is key and rounded students always succeed the most in their studies and quality of life. I am a grade 6 pianist, personal trainer, keen baker and animal lover. I have done many sport events, runs and competitions for charity and always used giving back as a motivator for my own personal achievement.
I am looking forward to meeting any of my next students and help them pass all of their exams with flying colours.
Availability: I am happy to agree availability or scheduled lessons. I will not be doing sessions in person and will only do lessons online through ZOOM, Teams or FaceTime,.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have extensive experience with teaching GCSE students through my school and have helped younger students increase their grades and sets from achieving straight D/Cs in lower sets, to moving to higher sets with A/A*s. I find helping young people extremely rewarding and enjoy helping my students find their passions.
I have achieved a 76% average in my degree so far; completed work experience in both Pfizer and Thermo Fisher where I competed in selective interviews against over 10,000 candidates; AAA in A-level with A* in EPQ; a combination of 7s, 8s and 5x9s exclusively in GCSE. In my EPQ, I received a score of 99%.
I have won the English creative writing KS3 rotary competition in 2017 and was the runner up in 2018. I have also won multiple poetry contests as well as many public speaking contests. I am a very confident speaker and enjoy communicating my passions: I have partaken in model United Nations, an under 18s debating club, where I have been invited to speak on complex political decisions in LSE London, the Champs-Élysées in Paris and the Innere Wiener Straße in Munich.
I have outstanding experience in laboratory work: I spent 6 months at Thermo Fisher Basingstoke in the microbiology lab where COVID-19 Trixon-X-100 was made, the revolutionary medium that inactivates the coronavirus, allowing for its transport for research and eventually, the production of lateral flow tests. I have further experience in Pfizers communication department, where I shadowed international deals and company acquisition. I am able to provide essential guidance into starting a career in STEM or medicine as I have personally been through both. I understand and empathise with the struggles of young people navigating the highly exam-focused modern world.
