I am a former Primary teacher, specializing in Literacy, Art and Music. I am now a writer and illustrator of picture books which promote kindness and friendship.

I have a good rapport with children and tailor my teaching to meet individual needs. I believe that building a child`s confidence is key when overcoming any obstacles in learning.

As I am a writer and illustrator myself, I am passionate about developing reading and creative writing skills.I encourage children to talk about their story ideas first so that they can develop these ideas further. Drawing a simple story map allows these initial ideas to link together to form a story structure. I find that role play activities such as `hot seating` help children to imagine being in another story character`s shoes, thus developing empathy.

I play the guitar and have found this skill to have been invaluable throughout my teaching career. I have taught guitar on a 1:1 basis and also in bigger groups at school.

I love drawing and painting and find that this is a great way for children to express themselves and also develop confidence as individuals.This then has an impact on learning across the curriculum.

Availability: I am available in the afternoon, before and after school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Experience: I have over 23 years of experience teaching mainly Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in Primary Schools.During this time, I have been leader of Literacy, Art, Music and Values Education. I have also been leader for Foundation Stage. I am especially passionate about teaching reading, writing, music and art.
