I am an enthusiastic and diligent scientist with more than 20 years of experience gained in Public Health Microbiology Laboratories as well as academic and industrial settings. Although new to academic tutoring, I am confident that my enthusiasm for Biology will enable me to quickly become a strong tutor, able to bring out the best in students. As a person I am calm, warm, positive and patient and I hope that these qualities, together with my love of science and strong academic background will enable me to build rapport with tutees from all backgrounds and foster in them a desire to excel in their learning.

Since completing my PhD ‘Antibiotic Resistance and Fitness Costs in Staphylococci’ in 2008, I have maintained a keen interest in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and infectious diseases affecting human health. I have extensive experience in reviewing scientific reports and manuscri pts and would be keen to take on project report/thesis review work as well as more traditional tutorial work.

Experience: I have recent teaching experience training new staff and visitors to my place of work (UKHSA). I also gained teaching experience during my PhD, demonstrating to undergraduate students for lab practical sessions.
