Information about Phoebe
I am 21 years old and currently a student in my final year studying music at the University of Manchester, now based in my home county of Warwickshire/Northants. I aim to develop musical creativity, technique and enjoyment through my teaching. I am friendly and flexible and love to teach all ages and abilities. My previous violin teacher Alan Broadbent has left me with both a love of violin playing and a need to inspire others in developing a similar passion! In my spare time I enjoy art and going up my allotment.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I take an approach to teaching which aims to suit all individual needs. I am keen to build a strong foundation in violin technique and playing within beginner and younger students. This, I believe, is vital in reaching more advanced levels of violin playing. I teach using pieces from both the ABRSM and Trinity grade books and from my own knowledge of repertoire as whilst I believe grades are important in motivating younger students, building a firm knowledge of technique and repertoire is just as necessary.
I always aim to balance technique with enjoyment by putting the students preferences over repertoire choice at the forefront of playing. I feel that it is important to not only play a piece, but learn about the history and setting surrounding it and so try to incorporate this into my teaching as much as possible. I always try to go the extra mile for students, be that through creating practice exercises or recording video tutorials. My teaching is flexible, as I tailor each lesson to meet the students goals and aspirations.
