Information about Magdalena
I am a qualified teacher of Mathematics Cambridge University (PGCE), experienced at working in both comprehensive secondary schools and more recently, a highly selective grammar school. I have proven track record of high performance and a reputation for achieving excellent results for my students.
I graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London, in July 2010, where I earned a First Class degree in Mathematics (BSc). In July 2012 I graduated from Cambridge University and obtained a Masters degree in Advanced Study (MASt) in Mathematics. As my ultimate goal was to become a mathematics teacher, I subsequently commenced my PGCE course at Cambridge University specialising in Secondary Mathematics, graduating in 2014. As a tutor, I am interested in working in secondary level of education as I feel this is the level where my mathematical knowledge and experience would be most useful to students.
I have gained an understanding of child behaviour as a result of being a live-in Nanny for a variety of families from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
Availability: I am fully booked for this academic year.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I love my job! As a mathematics tutor, I am privileged to be able to inspire young people and ensure they have access to the most up-to-date methods of mathematic teaching techniques to help with their understanding of the subject.
As an example, when preparing a group of low attaining Y11 pupils with a range of special educational needs, I managed to utilise my teaching techniques to accommodate their learning needs. I also focused on increasing the students confidence, working closely with teaching assistants to provide extra one-to-one teaching during break times. All of my students achieved grades far beyond their predicted grades.
Overall, I have 13 years of teaching/tutoring experience. As a qualified teacher, I have worked in a comprehensive secondary school in Cambridgeshire where I taught Edexcel syllabus to a wide range of students abilities. Prior to becoming a full-time tutor I had worked as a teacher of mathematics in a highly selective grammar school located in Orpington teaching AQA at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and MEI OCR syllabus for A-level students. Since 2012, I have also collaborated with the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) where I have functioned as a marker of Mathematics Olympiads. This collaboration advanced my skills in helping students in their preparation for Mathematics Olympiads and Challenges.
