Information about Aashi

I am a third year placement student at Loughborough University and am studying Product Design and Technology. I took English Literature, Mathematics and Design and Technology at A Level and I achieved A A and A* (respectively) in these subjects, as well as A*s in all these subjects at GCSE level. This shows that I am competent at the subjects and in a good position to teach them to students to ensure they are equipped for their exams. I attended The Henrietta Barnett School (a top grammar school in North London) and I understand the 11+ entrance exams process too so I can help students with this too.

Availability: Am free to discuss availability depending on the student.

Experience: As a Product Design and Technology student, my strengths for tutoring lie in teaching design theory as I am most familiar with this being the basis of my university degree. However, I am also very confident in teaching Mathematics and English (Language and Literature) at any level up to and including GCSE, as my grades show that I am competent in both subjects up to A Level standard.
I have just finished first year as a Product Design and Technology student at Loughborough and I have a huge passion for design as everything around us has an element of design in it and design can be used to drastically improve our quality of life. I chose to do Product Design at GCSE (Resistant Materials) as well as A Level and I achieved A*s in both qualifications. I believe that having completed my first year studying the subject at university, I have a broader understanding and perspective of the subject than I did before and have gained new skills and knowledge that I did not previously have in my secondary education.
This is what will help me teach the theory of the subject to my students, as to be able to answer the design theory questions, you should not only have an understanding of the specific materials and processes, but you should be able to think out of the box in order to answer “wordy” questions – I believe I would be able to help students think outside of the box and really consider the subject they are studying. I have also always achieved over 90% on my theory exams and I believe that I could help students make their answers more focused and streamlined to ensure they are answering the questions specifically to gain the marks.
With regards to mathematics, I took the subject both at A Level and GCSE – at GCSE, I achieved an A* grade and at A Level I achieved an A grade. I enjoy solving mathematical problems and have found that the best way to approach studying Maths is to learn the techniques and practice a lot as the questions you face in exams can always take you by surprise and it is always the first time you are solving a certain question type. Tackling questions the first time they are put in front of you is a skill I believe I have developed over the years and I would be able to teach students how to approach and break down mathematical questions.
As an individual who loves reading, I have always had a passion for English – at GCSE level, I achieved A*s for both English Literature and English Language, and I achieved an A in English Literature at A Level. I enjoy writing essays and I think it can be extremely difficult to get to a stage where your essays are succinct and focused in order to achieve the top band for marks. Essay writing is all about knowing how to approach structuring the essay and including all the specific points that you need to, but above all, it requires a deep understanding of what you are writing about and I believe I have good skills in interpreting and understanding the meaning of different texts.
