I have been teaching GCSE English in Secondary schools for 10 years. Prior to that, I worked as a teaching assistant and HLTA in Primary and Secondary schools and therefore with students of all differing abilities and ages.
I believe that working one to one with a student can help to increase their confidence and belief in themselves. Consequently they build on their knowledge and have potential to achieve more than they might otherwise do. It also allows them to explore ideas that they may have, but not have the time, opportunity or confidence in the school lessons to follow up or discuss in depth.
In the tutoring sessions, I aim to create a relaxed working atmosphere and as I get to know the student`s strengths and weaknesses, I adapt the lessons according to their ability, in order for them to achieve their potential. Added to that, I am a patient and calm teacher, who likes to encourage the student to have an input in their own learning.

Experience: I am currently Head of English in a Special Needs School for autistic students at KS2, KS3 and KS4 stages.
I also teach GCSE English Language and English Literature and Functional Skills. I have had experience teaching A-Level English Language and PSHCE. Added to that, I taught the National Curriculum for English Language and Literature, in a private school in Spain, to Spanish students.
My experience began as a teaching assistant at Primary school level and then as an HLTA at Secondary school supporting SEN / EAL students whilst specialising in English. After becoming an HLTA I went on to do my degree and PGCE and became a fully qualified English teacher.
