University of St Andrews
Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry
Information about Tom
I`m currently a graduate-entry medicine student at Imperial College London. In 2018 I was awarded a first class degree (BSc Hons), from the University of St Andrews, in Chemistry (with Medicinal Chemistry) - specialising in natural product total synthesis and biosynthesis.
Availability: I have extensive availability, please get in touch to discuss when would be best for you.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have tutored professionally for 3 years at all levels, with successful results from many tutees. Through the military (Officer Training Corps) I`ve attained teaching qualifications. Alongside my medicine degree I am completing educational training at Imperial College, in order to qualify as a graduate teaching assistant and attain a Higher Education Academy (HEA) Associate Fellowship.
I am a highly skilled tutor of both GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry. At St Andrews I have been included on the Dean`s List for two years owing to academic excellence in Chemistry, where my particular strengths lie in organic synthesis and inorganic/organometallic theory.
Having (relatively) recently completed secondary and higher education in the UK, I have a deep understanding of how to `tick the boxes` of A-Level, Higher and University examinations. I am also flexible in teaching methods as each tutee has preferential learning processes.
For those who wish to solely satisfy entry requirements I am able to teach the essentials of your curriculum and relevant exam technique. However, I am also able to give insight into the methodology and material covered of university-level chemistry courses, for those who are interested and are considering pursuing it as a potential career.
I will only tutor from my own home if a parent/guardian is present.
Entrance Exams Offered: Personal Statement Assistance, BMAT, UKCAT, Medicine & Graduate-Entry Medicine Interview Prep.
