Information about David
A former science teacher who specialised in Physics and Chemistry to GCSE and IGCSE Higher level but now working in schools as a Maths Intervention Tutor dealing with KS3 and KS4 pupils.
My job is to teach and motivate pupils to enjoy and understand Mathematics. Examination technique is also covered in order to raise pupils grades. I take a firm but friendly approach to tuition and take care to identify individual pupils needs and problems in understanding the concepts and methods used in Mathematics. Use of past papers is used as pupils approach their GCSE exams. Specialist computer based teaching resources are also used as part of the tuition process.
Although not teaching science in school I have continued to teach Physics and Chemistry privately and so have kept abreast of all the developments in the two subjects as well as being familiar with exam boards requirements.
Availability: Week nights, Monday through to Thursday, from 5:00 pm onwards and Sunday afternoon.
I can also offer tuition via Skype or Whats app video calls.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: Over twenty years experience of teaching Physics and Chemistry at KS4 and Science at KS3 plus over fifteen years experience of tutoring Maths Physics and Chemistry on a one to one private tuition basis.
Ten years experience of Maths one to one tuition in school.
Feedback For David (5)
David was an absolute star, he was always punctual and advised of his accessibility before he started, he managed to get the best from my daughter and she always look forward to his tutoring. He grades have increased tremendously since she started with David, in her own words Dave is EPIC!!!!
David has been tutoring our son for approx 4 weeks. We find David most professional, friendly & my son is very happy with him.
After our first meeting and session David seems like a personable gentleman with actual high school teaching /pupil experience. My son is looking forward to working with him to refine his maths skills. Everything David picked up on was exactly what my sons teachers have been saying. All good so far and look forward to seeing what Davids extra input will bring.
David Is tutoring maths to my son. My son has got on well with David and they work well together, being able to put across knowledge in a way my son understands
Very patient, reliable and very good at getting the point across. David has been working with our eldest over the past few weeks to help him get to grips with the new maths syllabus.
Would happily recommend anyone looking for a maths tutor to get in touch with Dave; he is busy and you may not be able to get a slot - but most definitely one of the good tutors.
David tutored our daughter without which she would not have passed her Maths GCSE. He has a positive approach to tutoring which in turn installed the confidence and knowledge in her to help her pass. He is a patient and supportive tutor and helps students understand and solve the problems and difficulties they encounter in maths. We were that impressed that he is now tutoring our son as well as a neighbours child.
The way of his teaching not liked by students. We observed that if we continue him there will be no any improvement for students and they were not happy with him that is why we only take two lessons and stop him
Tutors Response :
The comments posted by Majeed do not represent the true picture. I saw him and his son initially to find out what tuition was needed, then at his request went back the following evening to give a Physics tutorial and to assess his sons strengths and weaknesses which I did via use of a past paper. I found his son had a good knowledge of Physics but was let down by his standard of written English, I reported this to Majeed. I also specifically asked his son if he was happy with the way the tutorial had been conducted and the work we had covered, he looked me straight in the face and answered "yes". Imagine therefore my surprise when on the following day I received a text from Majeed stopping tuition as he son had said he didn`t like my method of teaching. My reply to Majeed was to restate my conclusions about his sons strengths an weaknesses. I have since contacted him asking him to remove his comments from the tutor hunt website which he has not done. David
