I love maths! I like to relate the subject to real life and the individual interests of the pupil to help them engage with this wonderful subject.

I am compassionate and friendly, and understand the pressures of the school environment.

I can help with all abilities; whether you are at grade 8/9 level or if you struggle with maths in general. I have taught children with various learning difficulties such as dyslexia, and those struggling with anxiety.

As well as maths, I enjoy getting out in the Cheshire countryside biking or walking, and yoga.

Experience: I have been teaching professionally in a variety of settings since my Mathematics PGCE in 2010.

I loved maths at school, and in 2002 studied BSc Mathematics at Durham University, and then a masters degree in Medical Statistics at Lancaster University. After initially working in the pharmaceutical industry as a statistician, I took six months out to train and work as a ski instructor in Switzerland. We were introduced to many teaching methods to ensure children and adults were kept safe, happy and learning new techniques on the mountain. It was this teaching experience that led me to consider changing career to teach maths. After completing a PGCE in Mathematics I taught at a London comprehensive school for four years and a private all girls’ school for two years.

Since relocating back home to Cheshire I have worked as an Alternative Provision tutor for an education agency. This involved teaching one-to-one maths to young people with difficulties accessing education for reasons such as illness, special needs or behavioural challenges. Alongside this I began teaching private lessons which have now mainly transitioned to online.

My private lessons specialise in the KS3 and GCSE maths syllabus. I have some experience teaching primary school maths and A-Level modules so have an overview of these content areas but don’t generally tutor primary or A-Level.

I have a qualification in TeenYoga, which enables me to deliver yoga and mindfulness to teenagers. I have occasionally used this in conjunction with tuition while working with children with special needs. Yoga and mindfulness help calm the nervous system so the student is in an optimal frame of mind for learning.

Please note I now deliver most of my maths lessons online.
