Information about Zoe
I love maths! I like relating maths to real life and the interests of the pupil to help them enjoy, engage and realise it`s relevance in the world.
I have taught children of many abilities; whether on track to a grade 8/9 or struggling with maths in general. I have worked with pupils diagnosed with dyslexia, anxiety and other difficulties. My style of teaching aims at helping children connect to and understand maths.
As well as maths, I enjoy yoga, and biking and walking in the Cheshire countryside.

Experience: I have taught professionally in a variety of settings since taking a Mathematics PGCE in 2010.
I loved maths at school, and studied Mathematics at Durham University, and took a masters degree in Medical Statistics at Lancaster University.
After initially working as a graduate statistician in the pharmaceutical industry in 2007, I spent six months training and working as a ski instructor in Switzerland. We were introduced to many teaching methods to ensure clients were kept safe, happy and learning new techniques on the mountain.
It was this teaching experience that led to a career change from a statistician to a school maths teacher. I completed a Mathematics PGCE at UCL`s Institute of Education, then taught in London for six years, firstly at a comprehensive school and then a private all girls school.
Since relocating back home to Cheshire I have worked as an Alternative Provision maths tutor for an education agency. This involved one-to-one tuition to young people with difficulties accessing education for various reasons such as illness, special needs or behavioural challenges. Alongside this I started teaching private lessons.
My lessons specialise in Key Stage 3 and the AQA GCSE maths syllabus. I have sometimes taught pupils sitting the Edexcel, OCR and international GCSE exams, and have some experience teaching primary school maths and A-Level modules, but I dont generally specialise in these areas.
I have a qualification in TeenYoga. I once used this in conjunction with maths tuition when I was assigned to work half or full days with a girl with special educational needs. Yoga and mindfulness help calm the nervous system so the student is in an optimal frame of mind for learning.
I now deliver most of my maths lessons online.

Zoe is an excellent tutor. She is warm and friendly. She`s enthusiastic. She has an excellent abilty to teach. She got through to my son. She emphasised the need to understand as opposed to answer questions just from memory.

Zoe is very pleasant and conscientious. My daughter seems to be enjoying her lessons with Zoe and is growing in confidence in her own maths ability.
